Texas Lutheran University choirs spread winds during spring tour
Texas Lutheran University announces the 2012 Spring Choir Tour will travel to Round Top, Fredericksburg, and Wimberley March 22-25 and culminate with a home concert performed in Seguin on March 27.
The tour across Texas will begin on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Festival Hill Round Top Music Institute’s Festival Concert Hall in Round Top. From there, they will travel to Fredericksburg for a performance at the Sheep Barn at Mansefeldt Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on March 23. Before returning home, they will stop in Wimberley on March 24 for a 4 p.m. concert at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. The home concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. on March 27 at the Chapel of the Abiding Presence on the TLU campus.
Under the direction of Dr. Douglas R. Boyer, director of the TLU School of Music and choral activities, the Texas Lutheran University Choir, the TLU Women’s Choir and the TLU Kantorei Chamber Choir will perform “A New Creation” featuring premiering works from composers William Averitt and André Thomas.
All performances are free and open to the public. Ticket reservations are required for the home concert on March 27 only. Limited priority seating will be available by reserving tickets through the individual venues. During each concert, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a freewill offering. Proceeds will help fund the continuing education of our music students, scholarships, materials such as sheet music, and future performances and tours that allow TLU to continue to share the gift of music.
