Texas Lutheran University to unveil new freshman living, learning community with fall class

      When the 2012-2012 freshman class arrives on the Texas Lutheran University campus in August, it will be the first to live in a residence hall designed to be a true living, learning community with open spaces, public gathering areas, and a computer lab. The new freshman residence hall yet to be officially named is a three-story, 48,000-square-foot building that will hold 160 beds.
      Designed by Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects of Austin, the coed residence hall was developed with community in mind. The first floor will feature classrooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces where students can gather to work, relax, and socialize. The second and third floors feature double rooms for freshman students. 
      “This is an exciting time for TLU as we are poised for growth and new opportunities and experiences for our students,” said Dr. Stuart Dorsey, TLU President. “The new freshman residence hall is the first step in the development of our campus master plan which will eventually include a new fine arts complex and an athletics stadium.”
      Texas Lutheran University is a private, undergraduate university associated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, offering high quality programs in the arts, sciences, and professional studies. The 184-acre campus in Seguin includdes more than 30 buildings, and the university offers 27 majors and 32 minors.
